We invite all researchers, journalists, practitioners, artists and anyone with a special interest in Latin America to join us the 21th of September to celebrate the official launch of the ENCUENTRO network. The ENCUENTRO Kick-Off event will take place in the brand new exposition hall of AMSAB-ISG, together with the opening of the exhibition BE-LA PAST & PRESENT ENCOUNTERS with archival materials from AMSAB-ISG and KADOC-KU Leuven as well as photograhic work by ENCUENTRO members Tessa Boeykens, Allan Souza Queiroz and Eva Willems.

ENCUENTRO aims at bringing together people with an interest in Latin American cultures, economies, politics and histories in their many aspects and from a critical perspective. By creating a network that reaches through and beyond academia, we want to keep in touch on what moves the continent’s past, present & future and raise interest in Latin America in Belgian society.
The ENCUENTRO Kick-Off is a collaboration of ENCUENTRO, AMSAB-ISG and KADOC-KU Leuven, with the support of UGent and KU Leuven History Departments and UGent Sociology Department.

ENCUENTRO Kick-Off, lancering Belgisch Latijns-Amerika netwerk
ENCUENTRO nodigt alle onderzoekers, journalisten, activisten, verenigingen, artiesten en iedereen met een interesse in Latijns-Amerika uit om feestelijke het ENCUENTRO netwerk te lanceren. Het evenement vindt plaats in de gloednieuwe expositieruimte van AMSAB-ISG, samen met de opening van de expo BE-LA PAST & PRESENT ENCOUNTERS. Archiefmateriaal uit AMSAB-ISG en KADOC-KU Leuven in combinatie met fotografisch werk van ENCUENTRO leden Tessa Boeykens, Allan Souza Queiroz en Eva Willems vertelt over diverse ontmoetingen en solidariteitsbewegingen met Latijns-Amerika in heden en verleden. Aanwezigen kunnen ook genieten van de Latijns-Amerikaanse keuken, drankjes en muziek.

ENCUENTRO is een netwerk dat België en Latijns-Amerika dichter bij elkaar brengt en bruggen slaat tussen bestaande initiatieven, organisaties en expertise. Benieuwd en kritisch kijken we naar Latijns-Amerikaanse cultuur, politiek, geschiedenis en economie. ENCUENTRO brengt onderzoekers, journalisten, ngo’s, activisten, vrijwilligers en artiesten samen om het verleden, heden en toekomst van het continent op de voet te volgen. Over de grenzen van verschillende generaties, talen, disciplines en sectoren bouwen we aan een sterkere zichtbaarheid en kennis van Latijns-Amerika in België.
De ENCUENTRO Kick-Off is een samenwerking van ENCUENTRO, AMSAB-ISG en KADOC-KU Leuven, ondersteund door de Vakgroepen Geschiedenis van de UGent en KU Leuven en de Vakgroep Sociologie van de UGent.

¡INVITACIÓN! Kick-Off ENCUENTRO, ¡A crear lazos entre Bélgica y América Latina!
Invitamos a tod@s los investigadores, periodistas, profesionales, artistas o cualquier otra persona que posea un algún interés por América Latina a unirse a nosotros el 21 de septiembre para la inauguración oficial de ENCUENTRO. El evento tendrá lugar en la recientemente renovada sala de exposición de AMSAB-ISG y será acompañado por la apertura de la exposición BE-LA PAST & PRESENT ENCOUNTERS. Materiales de los archivos de AMSAB-ISG y KADOC-KU Leuven junto con trabajo fotográfico de ENCUENTRO miembros Tessa Boeykens, Allan Souza Queiroz y Eva Willems, cuentan de diferentes encuentros y movimientos de solidaridad belgas con América Latina en el pasado y el presente. Igual tenemos previsto una degustación culinaria de recetas típicas de la región y un toque de música latinoamericana.

INVITATION! Kick-Off ENCUENTRO, créons des liens entre la Belgique et l’Amérique latine !
Nous invitons tous les chercheurs, journalistes, professionnels, artistes et toute personne partageant un intérêt spécial pour l’Amérique latine à nous rejoindre le 21 septembre pour fêter l’inauguration officielle d’ENCUENTRO. L’événement aura lieu dans la nouvelle salle d’exposition d’AMSAB-ISG et sera accompagné de l'ouverture de l'exposition BE-LA PAST & PRESENT ENCOUNTERS. Des affiches historiques d'AMSAB-ISG et KADOC-KU Leuven ensemble avec du travail photographique de notre membres d'ENCUENTRO Tessa Boeykens, Allan Souza Queiroz et Eva Willems, montrent des differents rencontres et mouvements de solidarité belges avec l'Amérique latine dans le présent et le passé. Nous avons aussi prévu une dégustation culinaire et une touche de musique latino-américaine.
