Jorn Verschuere

Master in History and Conflict and Development Studies at Ghent University. I have written a thesis on the relation between memory, space, and (post)hegemony in Nicaragua. Now, I am writing a PhD proposal on the (dis)continuities between the struggle/oppossition against the Somoza regime and the one(s) against the Ortega-Murillo regime. Specifically, I want to investigate the influences and consequences of the memory of the struggle/opposition against the Somoza regime on Nicaraguan politics and activism today. I have lived and worked in Managua for one year and a half (2016-2018).
