Hi, welcome on my page.
I'm Atamhi Cawayu. Born in El Alto (Bolivia), grew up in Belgium and currently I live between Ghent (Belgium) and La Paz (Bolivia). My doctoral research is about the transcontinental involuntary displacement of non-white children for international adoption from Bolivia to the Global North. Hereby I specifically focus on the stories of the women/mothers whose children were sent to the Global North for adoption and how this practice of international adoption took/takes place in Bolivia.
I'm a third year PhD researcher at the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), affiliated to the Department of Languages and Cultures of Ghent University, and member of the Centre for Research on Culture and Gender. In addition, I am also affiliated to the Instituto de Investigaciones en Ciencias del Compartomiento at Universidad Católica Bolivian "San Pablo" en La Paz, Bolivia.
